Emma Mcilroy Launches A Kids Book About Feminism

Everyone is equal, no matter their gender

Emma Mcilroy takes on a new venture with the release of a children’s book this week: A Kids Book About Feminism, released by innovative new publishing company A Kids Book About. The A Kids Book About books focus on sleek design, issues-based stories (including failure, creativity, racism, and money), and a direct-to-consumer model that’s still unusual in the publishing industry.

My book is all about feminism and what it means to be a feminist. My hope is it makes the word less scary for kids and inspire them to call themselves a feminist.
— Emma Mcilroy

As the founder and CEO of Wildfang, feminism is one of the core tenets of Emma’s business model. Her company was created with a specific goal in mind: to remind women that they can be whoever the hell they want and wear whatever the hell they want. In this new kids’ book, Emma spreads that message to a younger generation.

In her own words:

“This book is so cool! The whole series is aimed at having conversations with kids that might involve sensitive topics like racism or depression. We so often underestimate what kids are capable of and these books help you have those conversations in a cool way.”

— Emma Mcilroy

From the publisher:

This is an unapologetic take on feminism as a thing that everyone can embrace, no matter their gender. It tackles ideas around equality, bias, and discrimination because of gender. It also empowers young girls and boys to embrace feminism and show up for others when they’re being treated unfairly.
